Finding a home care provider to suit your needs is an individual process, here two Envigor Cairns clients share why they switched home care providers and have found the care they need with Envigor.
Gloria is an active 90-year-old who enjoys yoga, Zumba and gardening so she needed a home care provider who could keep up with her and help her stay active doing the things she loves.
“I still feel young,” says Gloria.
“Envigor help me go to all these things I do. I’m now going to massage, and I have my yoga once a fortnight and they come and do my housework for me. I’m cared for,” says Gloria.
Gloria says that her reason for switching from her previous home care provider was a family decision when her daughters realised she could be getting more flexible care elsewhere.
“My daughters thought that I wasn’t being looked after well enough. They searched around and found Envigor.”
Being able to phone Karen, Envigor Cairn’s Envigor care partner, and get personalised attention and care was a big deciding factor for Gloria and her daughters.
“I’m not afraid to call up and say Karen, I need to go here. When you invite people into your home, you have to be sure of them and know that they will look after you. I feel safe.”
Claudia, whose mother Lola is an Envigor client, says this personalised touch was the reason she chose to switch her mother’s home care to Envigor.
“I found it is a far more personal service with Envigor than with the other organisation I was with before,” says Claudia.
“My mum gets more service from her care package – even if I make a short notice call, I don’t have to wait until next day.
“As mum has dementia, we sometimes need help pretty quickly. We had a few incidents, and there was always someone from Envigor to answer our calls and help out at short notice.”
Claudia said that getting more care from the home care package was also a consideration, which allows her mum to remain living independently and for her to enjoy her role as daughter rather than carer.
“Cost wise, going with Envigor was much better for us, as admin fees were not as high as other organisations would charge.
“Before we had this support, there was a lot for me to do, and now I’m free to have quality time with my mum. It also allows us to have mum in an independent living situation.”
