The difference between a home care provider who is right for you and one that’s not meeting your needs can often be how they respond when the unexpected happens.
This has been the experience of NDIS client Sandy from Canberra, who uses Envigor Maroochydore as her preferred provider on the Sunshine Coast when she visits her parents.
On most visits, Envigor supports Sandy with transport to and from the airport and any social support required on her visit.
But on a recent planned visit to the Sunshine Coast, Sandy’s granddaughter Ava arrived earlier than expected down in the Logan area, which saw Envigor Maroochydore’s care partner Vicki Saun swing into action so Sandy could enjoy her first visit with her granddaughter.
“It was a team effort with other Envigor care partners and support workers to ensure Sandy arrived safely and was supported to Redbank Plains and then to Browns Plains to meet her new granddaughter,” says Vicki.
“We then organised for her to then see her parents again on the Sunshine Coast and back to Browns Plains and final airport delivery to complete her trip.
“Envigor’s strength is in individualised care, delivered by local care partners who know you and your needs. On a wider level, all locally based care partners work as a big team to support our clients outside our local area when needed.
“We also offer a flexible approach to care so that when the unexpected happens we can quickly move things around to support our clients the way they need. It was a great feeling to support Sandy in meeting her granddaughter.”
Sandy says that she was happy with how organised, caring and efficient Envigor staff were every step of the way from collecting luggage and wheelchair assist, toilet and lunch stops.
“Everything went smoothly and the girls are really wonderful. Vicki’s communication to make sure I was up to date with what was going on was great,” says Sandy.
