Hello, my name is Marie and I am the proud Envigor Community Care Business Partner for Gold Coast North.
I have worked in the area of community aged care across south east Queensland for a long time. I am hardworking, committed and I bring many years’ experience with duplicating a business model for clients and employees in this sector.
My management skills and client focus has been successful over the years due to my communication, and my ability to lead a team.
I was looking for a new challenge and I was inspired by the Envigor model where I could manage my own local business with the overarching support from a well-established organisation. Too many organisations have forgotten the reason why they work in their area, especially many that provide aged care services.
I value people, I am able to empower others as I am trusted and have integrity.
The thing that inspired me to work for Envigor was their desire to support people in living life envigorated. The messaging and culture within the team really resonates with everyone and becomes their own personal mission as well as the brand mission. Cohesive teams working together to better the lives of those around them is an inspirational thing to be a part of.
To me, dignity is respect to others, the ability to treat people as they deserve.
By providing dignity to others it has given me the ability to be trusted, to be fair, to have empathy and to not judge people. We are all human, we all have a story.
Your local Envigor Home Care team provides individualised personal and nursing care services to seniors, and people with a disability, living in Redbank Plains and surrounds.
There was one client that sticks out to me. He had advanced Alzheimer’s and had been known to lash out or hit others when he became upset or was in pain.
Due to his condition he would have trouble swallowing or even taking his pain medications to assist with the pain. We as a team helped work out that if we played his favourite music he would be more at ease and would be more willing to take these medications in addition we worked with a doctors to switch to a liquid form of pain medication that could be mixed with his favourite drinks.
These simple changes made such a difference and a positive impact for both the clients and other around him. My fondest memory is sitting with him in the lounge and him falling asleep to Pink Floyd.
